OA Technical Committee settles on planned version 2 standard interfaces during the Trento, Italy meeting
OATC meetings were held on January 13th to 15th. The meetings were hosted by University of Trento and Riccardo Rigon in Trento, Italy. These meetings have for long been planned as the OpenMI version 2 consolidation meetings, which means that the target was to settle on the OpenMI version 2 standard and consequently remove features that we could foresee not to be realistic to include within the frame of the OpenMI LIFE project.
We managed to agree upon the OpenMI standard interfaces. Even though everyone had to make sacrifices, we are all happy about this version.
The working title for this version is the OpenMI Trento version, which when we are ready to release will be very close to the new OpenMI Standard version 2. From now on we will proceed using a strict iterative development model, and changes to the standard will only be made when necessary or when this can be done without risking the progress of our developments. We have defined 7 iterations running from now until the end of 2009.
These iterations include implementation of the SDK, configuration editor, documentation, migration of commercial models, external review and final adjustments. A full working beta release is scheduled to June 9thand the final release to December 20th. More information about the Trento version and the development plan is given in the minutes from the Trento meeting.
