OpenMI Awards 2010 Winners Announced

David Lemon of CSIRO (Australia) has joined the OpenMI Association's Executive Committee.
He will bring to the Committee his knowledge and understanding of the Open Geospatial Consortium and its procedures, which should be of great value as the OA works with the OGC to publish the OpenMI Version 2.0 as an OGC standard.

HR Wallingford Research Project
HR Wallingford has recently undertaken a joint research project with the British Geological Survey to explore integrated surface water and groundwater modelling using OpenMI.

OpenWeb, an integrated modelling platform developed by HR Wallingford and which is based on the OpenMI, has won a British Computer Society Technology Excellence Award for 2009. The award is presented for new hardware, software and IT services products that make the biggest contribution to business technology.
Read more at BCS and Openweb Portal - Peter Gijsbers and Andrea Rizzoli will represent OpenMI Association at the 1st OGC\WMO Hydrology Domain Working Group Workshop, JRC, Ispra, Italy, where they will further explore the opportunities for collaboration with the OGC especially in the areas of Water ML and web services.
Read 1st meeting report - USA take-up of OpenMI. USEPA staff announced at the OpenMI-Life Workshop in Brussels earlier this month that the EPA will use the the OpenMI standard in their integrated modelling activities. Already the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) have decided to use OpenMI, so the confirmation by EPA is a major reinforcement for the international recognition and take-up of OpenMI.
- The final workshop for the OpenMI-Life project, Integrating Models and Policy - OpenMI Solutions for a Sustainable Future will be held at Brussels on the 11th and 12th January 2010.
- Several OpenMI papers and posters will be presented at the AGU 2009 (14th December 2009-18th December 2009).
- The OpenMI Association will be represented at the Open Geospatial Consortium Meeting in San Francisco (7th December 2009-11th December 2009).
- Roger Moore will be presenting a paper on the OpenMI at a workshop organised by the British Geological Survey on the 2nd November 2009.
