On July 1st the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) officially announced the adoption of the OpenMI Standard v2.0 as an OGC standard (read the press release).  This announcement forms the end point of a long negotiation procedure that started more than two years ago with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the OGC and the OpenMI Association, and during which the OpenMI Association Technical Committee reformatted the already published standard to the OGC specifications.  A sincere word of thanks goes to everybody who helped achieving the final result.
The official OGC document describing the standard can be downloaded here.

The OpenMI Association is very hopeful that this adoption will help speeding up the uptake of the OpenMI Standard amongst the software development and modelling community, and will contribute to its recognition  as a universal and flexible standard for integrated modelling
